Important Information Regarding Baseball Tryouts--Spring 2012 Last Changed
2012-05-01

There will be NO informational meeting for those planning on trying out for the 2012 Archer Tiger baseball team.  Instead, all the information you will need in order to tryout can be found here on this website.  Please email Coach Hays (chris_hays@gwinnett.k12.ga.us) if you have any questions.

Please print the following very important items.

  • Important Dates--This document is very important.  It tells you when your paperwork is due as well as other MANDATORY dates for those wanting to tryout for baseball.
  • Paperwork Checklist--This document will help you keep track of all the paperwork that you must fill out and return to Coach Hays.
  1. Medical Information Sheet
  2. 2012 Baseball Questionnaire
  3. Waiver for Athletic Insurance
  4. AHS Student Athlete Code of Conduct
  5. AHS Baseball Behavior Contract
  6. Physical/Insurance/Consent Form--Many students will not need this if they already have a valid physical on file.  If your physical has expired, please use this form when getting a new one.  Please make sure you have all of the necessary information filled in including all signatures and dates.  If it is not complete, I'll have to track you down and have you fix it.  Also, please make yourself a copy of your completed physical form for your records.

If you do not have access to a printer, see Coach Hays in room 1.424 and he can give you all the paperwork.  However, it is much more convenient if you just print all of the paperwork off of this website.

Important Reminders

  • Be throwing now.  Do not wait until tryouts to start building up your arm strength.  If you do, your arm won't make it through the first week of practice and you'll be dealing with arm pain all season long.
  • The varsity team will have games and practices during the entire week of spring break.  Please do not plan any vacations during this week.  Absences will not be tolerated.  The JV and 9th grade teams will most likely have the first half of the week off, but will have games and practices toward the end of the week.
  • All players are expected to pay their booster club dues ($375) which will be discussed at a later date.  100% of our players should pay their dues.  We have a tremendous wish list (pressbox/concession stand/restrooms, hitting facility, locker room, wooden wall, screen backstop) and the only way we can make it a reality is if we all pitch in and pay our dues and fulfill our fundraising goals.
  • Please be on time to pick up your student athlete from all games and practices. Our goal is to get into a routine where practice ends at about the same time each day, which will enable the parents to arrive in a timely manner to pick up their child.  Please be aware that the coaching staff is not allowed to go home until all of our players have been picked up.  After a long day of teaching and coaching, we are anxious to get home to spend time with our families.  Please help us out in this regard.

Please see Coach Hays in room 1.424 if you have any questions or you can email him at chris_hays@gwinnett.k12.ga.us.
